Good to the Environment
AWJ is an ongoing featured silk artist at Dharmatrading.com. Alison buys her silk and textile supplies from this company considering they are both environmentally conscious and proactive while simultaneously taking good care of their staff and customers.
10 percent of all proceeds from marine mammal themed art pieces that are purchased go to The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, California. Visit The Marine Mammal Center to learn more about the largest organization of its kind in the world where Alison is also a volunteer.

Alison paints with French silk dyes and gutta resist that are applied to various sizes of 8mm Habotai scarves or “China silk.” Each piece is first created by using a frame, applying gutta resist, painting, drying, and then the finished silks are heat set through a lengthy steaming process. The finished silk pieces can be worn as scarves or sashes and can also be displayed as table runners, banners, signs, or wall tapestries/hangings. For best results, Alison recommends to dry clean her silk creations and not to hang them outdoors for permanent display.
Any of these silk paintings can also be mounted on canvas - just contact Alison for more information.
